๐Ÿ’Ž Arc+ Fundamentals

Arc+ is the DevOps solution for IBM Planning Analytics (TM1). It brings the full application lifecycle - Plan, Build, Test, Migrate, Operate, Support โ€” into a single connected experience for development teams.

Arc+ is what you get when Arc is connected to Pulse: the centralised development environment of Arc, plus the testing, migration, and operational features that come from the combined platform. The six pillars below describe how Arc+ supports each stage of the lifecycle.

The six pillars

Plan

Bring confidence to take on more development work. Arc+ makes it easy to understand the full impact of a new rule or process change before any code is written, so risk is visible up front. A built-in To Do List helps manage the work that needs to happen across the team.

Build

A centralised platform for all your development, with access to every environment from one place. Don't compromise speed for quality โ€” build higher-quality applications by reusing and sharing battle-tested code, and make it easier to apply best practices consistently across the team.

For details on the Plan and Build features, see ๐Ÿ—๏ธ Plan and Build Faster with Arc+.

Test

Improve development quality by adding automated unit testing and Test-Driven Development to TM1 model work. Individual unit tests can be set up during development and grouped into collections that run in sequence. Code coverage analysis shows which parts of a TI process are being tested โ€” and which are not.

For the dedicated section, see ๐Ÿงช Automated Testing for TM1. A walkthrough is available in ๐ŸŽ“ Arc+ Training.

Migrate

Arc+ automatically documents every TM1 object. Its smart documentation gives you the confidence to apply new changes. When you create a migration package, the platform finds all dependencies automatically. Deployment history is preserved, and the full migration log can be downloaded whenever it's needed.

For details, see ๐Ÿ”„ Migration and Change Tracking.

Operate

Stay on top of day-to-day operations. Confirm compliance with your current licences, or identify users who are no longer active so their licences can be reallocated. See errors across all instances on a single dashboard, and step back through earlier states to find the root cause of a problem quickly โ€” using detailed, real-time system data.

Support

Monitor TM1 live in both the web interface and the rich Windows client. All the key metrics โ€” CPU, memory, logged-in users, message logs โ€” are surfaced second by second in one convenient place. Administrators can filter session users and message logs to focus on just what matters.

For Operate and Support details, see ๐Ÿฉบ Support and Monitor Your Systems.

How the pillars fit together

The six pillars cover the full lifecycle, so a TM1 team can stay inside Arc+ from the first impact analysis to long-term operational support:

  • Plan + Build โ€” Design and develop changes safely, with visibility into every dependency.

  • Test โ€” Validate the work automatically before it leaves development.

  • Migrate โ€” Promote changes with dependency-aware packages and a clean audit trail.

  • Operate + Support โ€” Monitor the running system, catch issues early, and resolve them with the data already at hand.

The result is faster delivery without sacrificing quality, and far less time spent firefighting after a release.
