Getting Started with Arc on the Cloud

This page is a starting point for users whose TM1 instances are hosted in the cloud, either on the IBM Planning Analytics Cloud or on a private cloud platform (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud and so on).

Which cloud scenario applies to you?

Scenario

Guide

TM1 on IBM PA Cloud (v11)

Using Arc with IBM PA Cloud (v11)

TM1 v12 (PAaaS / PA SaaS / Planning Analytics on AWS)

Using Arc with IBM PAaaS (TM1 v12)

TM1 REST API port accessible but admin host not available

Connect to a TM1 Instance Directly via the REST API

TM1 instances spread across several servers

Connect to Multiple Admin Hosts

General guidance for cloud environments

  • In cloud environments where only the REST API port is exposed, and not port 5898, use direct REST API connections in settings.yml rather than the admin host.

  • On IBM PA Cloud v11, authentication is done with IBM ID (OAuth) or a non-interactive account. On v12 it is done with an IBM API key.

  • Arc does not need to run on the TM1 host. It can be installed on a developer's laptop, on the cloud virtual machine, or on a dedicated Arc Server.
