Getting Slice Logs

Getting Slice Logs

When troubleshooting issues with Slice, log files are the first place to look. Slice generates detailed logs that capture errors, warnings, and diagnostic information to help identify the root cause of problems.

Log File Location

Slice log files are stored in the Windows AppData folder:

You can navigate there quickly by typing %AppData% in the Windows Explorer address bar, then opening the ArcForTM1 folder.

How to Enable Detailed Logging

Log verbosity is configured in the Slice Settings dialog. Slice provides log levels including Debug, Info, Warn, and Error. To capture the most detail for troubleshooting:

  1. Open Excel with the Slice ribbon active.

  2. Click Settings in the Slice ribbon.

  3. Scroll to the Log Settings section.

  4. Enable Debug level logging.

  5. Reproduce the issue.

  6. Navigate to %AppData%\ArcForTM1\ and share the excel.log file with Cubewise Support.

Tip: Debug logging can generate large log files quickly. Disable it again after capturing the issue to avoid performance impact and unnecessary disk usage.
