Set up Arc as a Windows Service

How to set up Arc as a Windows service for automatic startup.

Installation Steps

  • Extract files: Save and unzip the Arc for Windows 64 package into a dedicated folder like C:\arc on your server.

  • License setup: Run arc.exe once manually, open the web interface, and activate your license trial or key.

  • Stop manual process: Close the active command window running the web server.

  • Install service: Open a new Command Prompt as an administrator, navigate to C:\arc, and type arc.exe -install.

  • Start service: Open the Windows Services manager, locate the Arc service, and set it to running.

Management and Upgrades

  • Port config: Change the port by editing portno in the settings.yml file inside your Arc directory if port 7070 conflicts with other tools.

  • Upgrading: Stop the Windows service, replace the old arc.exe file with the new version, and restart the service without needing to reinstall.

  • Removal: Run arc.exe -remove from an administrative command prompt if you need to uninstall the service.
