MDX Forms in Slice

MDX Forms in Slice

MDX Forms are a powerful report type introduced in Slice v3.3 that drive Excel reports from a single MDX query. They combine the flexibility of MDX with the full power of Excel, making reports faster to build, easier to maintain, and more dynamic than traditional Active Forms.

Why Use MDX Forms?

Benefit

Description

Single query

The entire report is driven by one MDX statement — no per-row or per-column formulas to manage

Expand and collapse

Rows and columns can be expanded or collapsed just like Active Forms

On-the-fly calculations

Calculated members can be defined directly in the MDX query without modifying the TM1 model

Dynamic dimension switching

Swap hierarchies or dimensions by changing a single cell value

Stackable dimensions

Multiple dimensions and hierarchies can be combined on rows and/or columns
