Enabling the Arc Assistant in Slice
Slice v4.1.0 introduced the Arc Assistant, an AI-powered assistant accessible directly from Excel using the ArcAssistant.Data function. You can ask any question and pass data from your spreadsheet to get contextual answers.
Note: The Arc Assistant is powered by OpenAI. By using this feature, your data is sent to OpenAI servers. Ensure this is acceptable under your organization's data policies before enabling.
How to Enable the Arc Assistant
Sign up for an OpenAI account and request an API key from the OpenAI platform.
In Excel, click the Settings button in the Slice ribbon.
Go to the Add-In tab.
Paste your OpenAI API key into the AI API Key field.
Save the settings.
How to Use ArcAssistant.Data
The ArcAssistant.Data function takes two arguments:
Argument | Description |
|---|---|
The question | The question you want to ask the assistant |
The data array | A range or array of data from your spreadsheet to provide as context |
Example usage:
After pressing Enter, wait a few seconds for the response. The data is sent to OpenAI, processed, and the answer is returned directly into the cell.
